Love: According to Desmond

Talk about beautiful moments...my son and I were relaxing on the couch. He reached over, gave me a hug and said "I love you mommy...I love your heart." O to the M to the G!! My heart literally melted into the cushion of the couch. Of course I returned the love, but I was wondering how did he think to say that? I have never said those words in that way (although I wish I had because it was so poetic) and my hubby said he never said it that way either. The only thing I can think of are the times I've said "You have my heart" to Desi. Whatever the case, he thought of it himself and expressed it in such a beautiful way. So these are all the hearts he loves (the ones he vocalizes):

"I love Mommy's heart"
"I love Daddy's heart"
"I love Tyson's (our dog) heart"
"I love Pop Pop's heart"
"I love Gi Gi's heart"
"I love Ma Ma's heart"
"I love ice cream heart"

I wish you all could hear him say it because he says it from his heart. He REALLY means it and that's the sweetest thing about it. I love this little boy and I love his heart too.

Night Night!

(can't rotate this pic. It's still cute!)

Poop Catcher

Hello!! I've been gone for a while, but for good reason. I was studying for my state exam for my insurance license. I passed! I am now licensed to write and sell auto and home policies. Woo hoo! So I got my life back. Hubby was so great during this time. He took care of everything and supported me tremendously. Now, Desi was supportive as well. He would join in on my studies. "Want to study with chew mommy," he would say. When I passed, he said "Good job mommy! So proud of you!" (of course daddy coached him). It just warmed my heart. Anyway,  I have to share this hilarious story with you all. One night, earlier last week, we are trying to get Desi to poop in the toilet.  He just refused to sit his little butt down on the seat. We knew he had to poop, so we really wanted him to get on the toilet. My husband was speaking with his mother on the phone and she heard the commotion. She suggested that we just let him go pamperless for the night before going to bed. T...

Heart of the Matter

I am sick and do not know why. I have been dealing with some serious symptoms. I have always dealt with extreme fatigue but in the past 2 years it has become nearly debilitating. I find it hard to do simple things like grocery shopping or doing chores around the house or walking up the steps or putting my clothes on. I experience extreme fatigue with these activities and it usually takes me a day or two to recoup. I have dizziness, and heart palpitations. I have recently experienced chest pain. It wasn't until I started having chest pains during sex when I decided it was time to take a visit to the doctor. My doctor advised that this could be something related to my heart. Since visiting the doctor, I have had blood tests that show I am healthy and I recently did a stress test and 2D Echo that showed my heart was fine. I immediately felt like a fool and quickly reasoned that this was possibly in my head. I have an angiogram scheduled for tomorrow but I don't think anything will...

Food War (Part Deux): Silent Treatment

Thank you all for the suggestions regarding Desi's dinner time. Your comments and what I've been reading online have really helped me calm down. Tonight, I approached dinner with ease. I made something I knew he would eat--fish sticks and tater tots. I added some succotash and cornbread. I set the plate down and we prayed over the food and I didn't say a word after that. He dove into the fish sticks and tater tots. He played in the succotash and didn't even eat the cornbread, but that's alright because he ate something. I gave him a cheese stick and strawberries after dinner. I praised him for eating and once again, did not stress over what he didn't eat. I was less stressed and so was he. I think that makes for a successful evening at the table! Is this war over? Only time will tell. You all may find interest in www.parenting.com . They have some cool tips and recipes for our picky kids. I also found this cookbook below. I think I am going to buy it. If I d...
