Special Announcement

Alert, Alert!! I would like to announce that my son has officially become a BIG boy. He pee peed in the potty tonight! I can't believe it. So here is how it all went down. Desi was playing around before we got him down for bed. He was playing in the bathroom while I was doing my hair. He decides to get his book and sit down on the potty with his pamper on. Now, we have been sitting him on the potty here and there, but we haven't really enforced the whole potty thing because we wanted to go at HIS pace and not when WE felt he should be doing it (or what the books and others say for that matter). So, at first I was just going to let him sit there with his pamper on because, like all the other times, I felt like he wouldn't do anything on the potty. The other thing was I was too tired to actually take the pamper off and let him sit and do nothing.
Of course, I changed my mind. I had a little inkling of hope. So I nonchalantly slipped Desi's diaper off and placed him back onto the toilet and handed him his book. I sat there looking at my little munchie and thinking about finishing my hair so that I could go to bed. All of a sudden, Desi says, "pee pee?" I look and I saw little droplets of what appeared to be pee pee. I called my husband into the bathroom because I felt as if Desi would have done more. As soon as my husband came into the bathroom, Desi finished peeing. We were so excited! Desi actually peed in the potty! He looked up at us with the biggest smile and was so happy that he did it. Well, I just wanted to share the good news with you all. I am going to get into bed. I am falling asleep as I type this out. Until next time.

Night Night!

Poop Catcher

Hello!! I've been gone for a while, but for good reason. I was studying for my state exam for my insurance license. I passed! I am now licensed to write and sell auto and home policies. Woo hoo! So I got my life back. Hubby was so great during this time. He took care of everything and supported me tremendously. Now, Desi was supportive as well. He would join in on my studies. "Want to study with chew mommy," he would say. When I passed, he said "Good job mommy! So proud of you!" (of course daddy coached him). It just warmed my heart. Anyway,  I have to share this hilarious story with you all. One night, earlier last week, we are trying to get Desi to poop in the toilet.  He just refused to sit his little butt down on the seat. We knew he had to poop, so we really wanted him to get on the toilet. My husband was speaking with his mother on the phone and she heard the commotion. She suggested that we just let him go pamperless for the night before going to bed. T...

Brown Tears

I prefer the color purple rather than the color pink. Purple is the color I like the most because I think it is beautiful. A month ago my son revealed his color preference and I wasn't prepared. It has taken me some time to think about whether I would write about this topic or not as it is pretty sensitive but in the end I feel like not writing about it would bring a constant nagging that would be hard to escape. About a month ago, my oldest son, Desmond asked me to place my hand up against his hand and I did not understand why. He analyzed his hand and mine and proceeded to say, "I wish I had you and Omari's color brown." My heart betrayed me and stopped. All my senses went numb. I couldn't believe what my wonderfully made son just said. I asked him why he felt that way and he said that my brown and his brother's brown was a better brown because it's lighter. I pushed past the ringing in my ear and lovingly asked him if someone at school was saying mean ...

Heart of the Matter - Pt. 2

In my last post I wrote about an issue I'm having with my health. Do we know what that issue is yet? No. The results came back regarding my heart and all is well. I have a healthy heart! I am so glad that those results were negative. However, the question still remains. What is going on with my body? I had a follow-up appointment with my primary care doctor last week and they advised that my latest blood test showed that my C-reactive protein levels and my sedimentation rate was really high. Which indicates that there is inflammation in my body. They are not sure what is causing the inflammation so they want me to follow up with the Rheumatologist. This is not the first time that I've heard that my C-reactive protein is high. Years ago, I was under the care of a different primary care doctor. I presented with the same issues and he did a blood test and said my C-reactive protein was high. He suggested I see an infectious disease doctor. Results for those tests (i.e  Lyme diseas...
