Sick Again?!

My baby boy is sick again. These darn colds!!!! We were taking care of his cold all throughout the weekend. When we got Desi together for daycare this morning, we thought all was well. Out the door and down the road we went. Desi kept saying "home mommy, home." That was the first sign that he wasn't feeling well. Then here comes the vomit!! My husband and I just took a deep breath and turned the car around to head for the house. To stay home or not to stay home? That is the question my husband and I asked of each other. Is he feeling better now that he vomited? Should he go to daycare with this cough and the runny nose? He doesn't have a fever...

My husband definitely makes more money than I do and he had an important meeting to attend. So, I stayed home with our sick child. His grandma called me to see how he was doing. She advised that I should take him to daycare since he is not running a fever. I wasn't sure though. I just didn't feel right taking him when he was clearly sick. When I got him in the house he said "lay down mommy" that was enough for me to keep him home not to mention that he visibly looked like he wasn't well.

Anyway, I made the call to my job to let them know that I was not coming in. Another leave without pay...I've been second guessing myself the whole day. Maybe I should have taken him to daycare. Maybe I shouldn't have called the daycare provider to tell her what happened. Should I take him to the doctor? In the midst of my thoughts, I did take care of my baby boy. I made a doctor's appointment for 2:30pm today. I canceled it. He was still sound asleep and I felt that it was better that he get some rest. Was that the right thing to do? Maybe I should have woke him up so we could make that appointment. When he finally woke up, I gave him some soup and juice. He perked up a little. "Hungee mommy," he said an hour after he ate his soup. Great! He has an appetite. I gave him some fruit. Now he is sitting down on his little box (He won't let me throw this box away) watching Caillou. He looks like he is getting better. He is a little more active, but still has a little cough. Hopefully, that will subside throughout the week.

Lesson of the day: Don't second guess what comes natural. Mommy intuition is powerful. Just feel your baby out and go from there. Yes, I missed another day of work and no I will not get paid for it, but I will pat myself on the back because I am fulfilling the most important job that I have and that is motherhood.

  1. Aww this is a beautiful post. I am actually going through the same thing with my soon-to-be two year old daughter. Idk where these little colds have been coming from! Mommy knows best...I don't know what you do for work, but surely the daily operations continue with or without us...but the babies, they NEED us. Great call :)

Yes, Mommy definitely knows best. Daily operations definitely continue. May baby needs that extra TLC when he is sick and who else better to give it to him, but mommy?

Poop Catcher

Hello!! I've been gone for a while, but for good reason. I was studying for my state exam for my insurance license. I passed! I am now licensed to write and sell auto and home policies. Woo hoo! So I got my life back. Hubby was so great during this time. He took care of everything and supported me tremendously. Now, Desi was supportive as well. He would join in on my studies. "Want to study with chew mommy," he would say. When I passed, he said "Good job mommy! So proud of you!" (of course daddy coached him). It just warmed my heart. Anyway,  I have to share this hilarious story with you all. One night, earlier last week, we are trying to get Desi to poop in the toilet.  He just refused to sit his little butt down on the seat. We knew he had to poop, so we really wanted him to get on the toilet. My husband was speaking with his mother on the phone and she heard the commotion. She suggested that we just let him go pamperless for the night before going to bed. T

So Emotional

I am all over the place this week. My emotions are running wild and my eating is out of control! No I'm not preggers, I'm just trying to put up with a visitor (ya'll know what I'm talking about). I wish I could take a vaca with myself during these times because I hate being around people. I can be mean. The men of my house experience my wrath more than anyone else. My poor Desi was so mad with me today because I was so impatient with him. He said, "tell my daddy on You! I told him to go on and tell his daddy. He just seems to pull on that nerve a little more around this time. Not only do I have to deal with a visitor today, I have to deal with allergies! My eyes are swollen, I can't breathe and I feel like if I sneeze one more time I'm gonna scream. With all of that being said, my poor baby didn't really have fun with mommy today. We fussed at each other all night. I felt like I wanted to cry because all I wanted was a little break and I couldn't

Self Discovery

I just discovered something about myself. I am not as confident in myself as I thought I was. I went to dinner with my cousin and a few other family members the other night. We were discussing each other's personality. My beautiful and very talented cousin mentioned that I am one that second guesses myself. She then gives an example. She asked me to set up the gift baskets for her product line (Endless Touch). I take on the task and proceed to ask her how she would like it set up. Although it is nice that I asked, but she was extremely busy. I should have just taken the initiative and dressed those baskets up with confidence. She is 100% right and hearing her say it out loud confirmed my suspicions about myself. It was all clear. When she asked me to set those baskets up, I had an idea of how I would have liked it to look, but I didn't believe that idea would be received well, so I asked for her vision instead. This is just an example on a smaller scale. Not only do I do this
